Skeet Ulrich stars in this comedy as Kevin Manley, a bored city dweller who learns he’ll inherit his grandfather’s vast fortune if he can finish a 1,000-mile dogsled race across Alaska. Bonnie, the beautiful, blonde daughter of his grandfather’s rival, agrees to help him with the challenge. What Kevin doesn’t know is that his bungling lawyer is scheming to sabotage them so he can claim the inheritance.

This CBS entry into the serial drama genre revolves around a small town in Kansas that finds itself cut off from the rest of the world after a mushroom cloud appears on the horizon, and a TV and radio blackout ensues. Horror maven Wes Craven — paying homage to teen horror classics such as Halloween and Prom Night — turns the genre on its head with this tale of a murderer who terrorizes hapless high schooler Sidney Prescott by offing everyone she knows. Not your average slasher flick, Scream distinguishes itself with a self-parodying sense of humor.

Touch (1997) Rated R

Former monk Juvenal returns to Los Angeles after many years away and begins work at a rehab center, where he discovers stigmata on his palms and a miraculous gift for healing. As word gets out, con man Bill Hill sends his accomplice, Lynn Faulkner, to infiltrate Juvenal’s world and find out whether he’s the real deal. Of course, she falls for him. This comedy is based on a novel by Elmore Leonard.
