The Paradise (PBS) Rated NR

The paradiseSet in 1875, The Paradise is the first English department store. We follow Denise Lovett as she moves from small town to city life among the hustle and bustle of the store, it’s owner and employees. Based on Émile Zola’s novel Au Bonheur des Dames. Starring Joanna Vanderham, Emun Elliott, Stephen Wight, Sonya Cassidy, Matthew McNulty, Elaine Cassidy, Finn Burridge

I enjoyed the first two episodes of this show but I have to say since watching Mr. Selfridge, I feel a bit been there done that. They are very similar. If I had watched The Paradise before Mr. Selfridge, I probably would have enjoyed it over Mr. Selfridge. Alas, I did not. This doesn’t mean I would stop watching, the characters do pull me in and I am curious what happens next. It’s still worth a watch.
