A Christmas Carol (1938)

Rated NR

This is, by far, my most favorite of the adaptions to A Christmas Carol. I loved it. Reginald Owen is the best Scrooge ever! To find out later that he wasn’t even suppose to have the role makes it all the more astonishing. Lionel Barrymore, who did the radio program of A Christmas Carol, was supposed to play the Scrooge character. Now, of course, I haven’t ever heard the radio show but I must say I’m glad that Barrymore wasn’t able to fulfill the role. Although, Lionel did recommend Owen for the role, so happy. This film will be added to my film collection.
