The Smurfs (2011) Rated PG

TheSmurfsGargamel chases the smurfs out of their village to a place called New York City. Starring Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofía Vergara, Tim Gunn

I grew up watching the Smurfs on TV, so I was quite apprehensive about the movie. The new thing in Hollywood is that you take something nostalgic and reinvent it for a new generation. The only problem is they tend to murder the essence of what makes these movies and TV shows great. The Smurfs on the other hand isn’t too bad. They did a great balance between the two worlds, keeping the nostalgic and making it new. It’s still not the best but I don’t know if they could ever make something that’ll make both sides truly happy. This film does a good middle of the road take. It’s worth a watch.
