This show seems to have difficulty handling the variety of characters involved and the social/political circumstances which defined this tumultuous era.  There are confusing time period changes in the first episode, as well.

However, it is visually stunning, and the costumes are fabulous.  I think that, once the characters are better established, this show could be something really special.  It’s worth a watch.
