A thoughtful and entertaining Disney film, I thought this story of a boy struggling with the death of his brother was incredible, as he has to overcome his wish for revenge to honor his brother’s legacy. The film provides a much-needed message that revenge is not the answer for a grieving heart; instead, choosing to honor the loved one’s life by remaining true to their character is the way to keep their legacy.

All that said, I have only one quibble with the movie- just an annoying distraction I have to mention- and that is, where in the world do these characters live?  Are they in the U.S. or Japan? Where is this fictional city San Fransokyo? It looked like San Francisco, only there was Asian writing on the storefronts.  The characters looked western but their names sounded Asian and they ate sushi.  I was so confused; it took me half the movie to stop analyzing this one detail and really get into the beautiful story. I know it’s just a small thing, but it made it difficult for me to identify with the characters. When I finally got over it, I found the story to be absolutely amazing, though. This film worth a watch.
