This film takes some warming up to. At first I was hopeful that this couple would work things out. I quickly realized, though, that the wife had given up on her marriage and was absolute in her refusal to bend or change to make it work. Then, there is the husband, who has no idea how they got to this point and sincerely wants to save his marriage. In my opinion, the blame sits solely on the wife, the way they wrote the script, making her a very unsympathetic character.

Willis and Pfeiffer both were perfectly cast as the couple. However, the ending caused me to wonder whether it was real  or just a wish. Still, the writing and acting are compelling.  They tell the thought-provoking story of a troubled marriage with excellence.  This film is worth a watch.
