Hotel Berlin (1945) Rated NR

hotel berlinAt the end of WWII, a member of the German underground escapes the Gestapo by hiding in the Hotel Berlin. Based on the book, Hotel Berlin ’43 by Vicki Baum. Starring Faye Emerson, Helmut Dantine, Raymond Massey, Peter Lorre.

This film is a sleeper, and that’s not to say I mean it’s a hit. It is a slow-paced film with interesting dialogue and intriguing character analysis.  Thought-provoking in its approach to the intertwining lives of the people staying at the Hotel Berlin, it expands on the idea that all Germans during that time were not necessarily evil Nazis. It is worth a watch.
