I’m sorry to say that I’ve never been a fan of Les Misérables. The story has always seemed too long and at times confusing. Then, I watched this version, and WOW.  I could finally see the unfolding story of down on his luck Valjean making poor choices until he meets Bishop Myriel who offers him a chance to change his ways. Valjean’s transformation, though hard work, service, and sacrifice is incredible, especially against the backdrop of the French Revolution. The story is brilliantly told by actors who played their parts under the direction of Tom Hooper. The cinematography is stunning, bringing history to life, along with the costume design and makeup. No longer too long or confusing, I now see what makes Les Misérables trés magnifique! It is so worth a watch.
