A story of Peter Rabbit and his antics trying to get into the neighbor’s vegetable garden. Based on the book  The Tale Of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. Starring James Corden, Fayssal Bazzi, and Domhnall Gleeson.

I actually thought this film was cute – surprisingly cute. First, there’s Peter, who never stops trying to find ways to get into Mr. McGregor’s garden. Then we have Bea, who represents Beatrix Potter, and instead of old Mr. McGregor, we have his young nephew. The film does a lovely job weaving a backstory of how Beatrix Potter come to tell the tale of Peter Rabbit. I thought it was going to be goofball of a movie as Peter tries various ways to sneak in the garden, but the film surprised me with a wonderful story of romance as well. Of course, the romance is not as fleshed out as it could be but it was still sweet. Peter isn’t and never has been an innocent party when it comes to getting into McGregor’s garden. At times, the goofball side of the film is over the top, but it’s an animated rabbit after all. Then you have the controversial scenes about food allergies, which is blown out of proportion in my opinion.  I don’t think Peter was trying to kill Mr. McGregor; he was just trying to incapacitate him, and he was able to get an EpiPen. You also have to take into consideration that this is a rabbit, not a child. Some may think that Peter’s actions are unkind, but it’s an animated film, and if this is the case, then we shouldn’t be blowing up the rabbits either. This film is cute and worth a watch.
