This film is a classic. It’s the one that all other Superman flicks are compared to. Nobody can play Clark Kent/Superman like Christopher Reeve. There is a definite distinction between the two characters that Reeve is able to portray; I have yet to see this represented in any other film. The chemistry is matched between Reeve and Margot Kidder as Kidder portrays the tough female reporter with an innocent love for Superman. Then you have Gene Hackman as the villain, Lex Luther; I’ve yet to see anyone play this role better. The film also brings out the love that Superman has for his adoptive planet, which is lost in other films. Sure, there are parts that don’t match up with the comic books; Jimmy Olson is older than in the books. However, the differences don’t break the story. The film brings the comic series to life. This movie is worth a watch.
