The Reading Room (2005) Rated PG

Making good on a promise for his wife, a widower, opens a reading room for people to learn to read, but problems in the neighborhood threaten the room. Starring James Earl Jones, Joanna Cassidy, and Douglas Spain.

This is a great family film. We have a retired man who, thanks to the promise he made to his wife, goes back to his childhood neighborhood to open a reading room for people to enjoy. The only problem is that the neighborhood has changed, and the reading room isn’t welcomed. It’s a story of a man who can make a difference in the lives of other people. Jones brings a performance that you must see. Along the way, Jones’ character even learns a few things. Of course, this isn’t the best film out there – but it was a fun and enjoyable watch, which was worth it.
