Blue Jasmine (2013) Rated PG-13

A New York socialite arrives to visit her sister in San Francisco. Starring Cate Blanchett, Joy Carlin, and Richard Conti.

Jasmine is a woman who is used to the wealth that her husband has provided for her throughout their married life. When her husband is imprisoned for tax fraud, her life changes. She goes from having everything to having nothing. Blanchett does a wonderful job portraying a woman who struggles with the reality of the situation. Blanchett’s performance makes us feel for her character, but you don’t feel bad for her. The film portrays the difference between the haves and the have-nots as Jasmine tries to come to terms with her new life. This film is worth a watch.
