This is a great story of a man who would go to any lengths to live. Woodroof, who lives a wild life, is diagnosed during the height of the epidemic. He discovers that the current medicine from the FDA doesn’t help. So he goes behind the law and gets medicine that isn’t FDA approved. Along the way, he gains customers, fights the FDA, and learns to not be so discriminatory. Both McConaughey and Leto perform at their best; neither one seems to be out of his comfort zone in the performance – McConaughey being from Texas and Leto, always the pretty boy. I don’t believe that the transformation of actors really makes the performance; it enhances but isn’t the reason that they should win awards. This is a film that is worth a watch.
