The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018) Rated PG

A girl is transported to a world with gingerbread soldiers, an army of mice, and sugar plums. Starring Mackenzie Foy, Tom Sweet, and Meera Syal.

This is not the ballet version of The Nutcracker, and although I would have loved to see the drama of the ballet, this film is a wonderful story based on it. Here we have a girl who is transported into the four realms where she must help them find peace while coming to terms with a loss of her own. The film is not the best written, and at times, it has poor acting, but it is visually beautiful with stunning costumes and makeup. I couldn’t get over the makeup – they even gave Clara (the girl) rosy cheeks in the cold. It was the most brilliant I have seen. I say the film, even with its worst qualities, is still worth a watch.
