First Man (2018) Rated PG-13

A film that looks at the life of astronaut, Neil Armstrong, as he prepares for the mission to the moon, on July 20, 1969. Based on the book, First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, by  James R. Hansen. Starring Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Jason Clarke

The film follows the story of Armstrong from 1961-1969. The film shows the determination, struggle, sacrifice and failure to bring the reality of landing on the moon to life. The film just tells the story of space race not the behind the scenes to the Armstrong’s family life. They are on the back burner to the space race. Gosling portrayed the man, as a stoic, quiet man that focuses on his mission. That makes it a success. The music is what made the film. You felt what these characters felt through the music to the film. It was brilliant. It was amazing to witness the moon landing from Armstrong’s point of view. You were able to grasp the feelings of awe, wonderment and scariness of the unknown in those scenes.  It brought you to the edge of your seat but it also brought the feeling the brilliance of God’s creation. I could almost hear God say,  Yes, I created all this for you and so proud to share it with you. The movie isn’t the best in storytelling but it is still worth a watch.
