McLintock is a rancher that works at keeping the peace amongst the farmers, ranchers, land-grabbers, Indians, and corrupt government officials. Based on William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Starring John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara, and Patrick Wayne.
John Wayne plays the father of a daughter whose intended works on winning her hand. It’s not your typical western, but it’s a western version of Shakespeare. Wayne himself plays a man who is trying to gain the upper hand in his family. The film has its slapstick comedy, verbal sparring, and a little gun fighting. It isn’t politically correct, but that isn’t unusual for the time period. It’s still a film worth a watch.
