Seriously, this film leaves out everything that made the original Annie special. There was so much wrong with this remake. To start, they tried updating the songs, but the kids couldn’t even sing to them. The songs were more out of place than moving the story along. The songs are what make the original story what it is; it’s what made the musical what it was. They try to Excuse Miss Hannigan’s treatment of the children by giving her a backstory. This film lost the whole point of the story of Annie. It’s not just about an orphan. It had heart. It was about finding family and forgiveness. It was about no matter how bad your life is, there is always a silver lining. It’s about the fact that families aren’t always what you imagined them to be. These meanings are found in the original Annie, not this slash of a film. To make it worse, the acting was the worst I have ever seen.  It’s not worth a watch.
