Brassed Off (1996) Rated R

A coal mine in Northern England is closing, so what does that mean for the miners’ brass band? Starring Pete Postlethwaite, Tara Fitzgerald, and Ewan McGregor.

Having seen the title of this film, I wondered what this film would be about, and it surprised me. It’s another case of “you can’t judge a book by its cover.” This film has heart, and it’s about humanity. The actors were brilliant, and the story is just heart-wrenching. This film brings to life the plight of our lives. A lot of people look at this film as political, but I’m glad that I didn’t. I looked at it as a change in the way of life and how some can move forward and others cannot. This is a brilliant film and worth a watch.
