Everest (2015) Rated PG-13

The story of Robert “Rob” Edwin Hall and Scott Fischer as they team up to ascend Mount Everest in 1996. Starring Jason Clarke, Ang Phula Sherpa, Thomas M. Wright, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Based on the true story of the disastrous expedition on Mount Everest in 1996. It covers the rescue mission to the expedition. The film is as true as it can be to the events of 1996. It’s not a thriller – it unfolds slowly and lets the story develop as it happens. The film does struggle  in keeping to a theme. It’s a mix of disaster, drama, and documentary. The film doesn’t portray the feeling of climbing the highest mountain and its overall difficulty. Although, I have to say that having never really climbed a mountain, it showed enough to make it believable for me. It’s interesting enough to make it worth a watch.
