Infidel (2019) Rated R

An American man is kidnapped in Cairo after being invited there to talk about the uprisings. Starring Jim Caviezel, Claudia Karvan, and Hal Ozsan.

This film is an interesting story. It has the feel of being based on a true story, but it is not. It’s based on other stories of western journalists that were jailed due to their political ideologies and faith. The film, for the most part, has this air of validity to it as well as fantasy. I just felt that the idea that of a Christian blogger going to Cairo to talk about the uprisings seemed farfetched as well as the wife working for the government. Everything seems too pat and dry for it to be realistic. At times, the characters seem to do things that are not realistic, like responding in a way that doesn’t make sense. Caviezel, on the other hand, is pretty good. Over all, the film seems forced and isn’t realistic enough, making it not worth a watch.
