A divorcee entangles her life into a missing person investigation. Based on the book by Paula Hawkins. Starring Emily Blunt, Haley Bennett, and Rebecca Ferguson.
I love a story that takes a twist and a turn that you aren’t expecting. While this film has that, it also feels anticlimactic. Blunt plays a recovering alcoholic that immerses herself into a missing person investigation. Blunt does a remarkable job portraying a woman who is struggling with her problems. This film does a wonderful job at looking at the concept of gaslighting – what it is and how it’s done. The script is well done as we go through the twists and turns until it all becomes evident. It’s a story that, at times, is too slow and can be confusing as they figure out what happened to the missing girl. While it kept my interest and was entertaining at best, the film still didn’t make me go wow, making it not worth the watch.
