The BFG (2016) Rated PG

An orphaned girl befriends a giant who takes her to Giant Country in order to stop the man-eating giants from invading the human world. Based on the book by Roald Dahl. Starring Mark Rylance, Ruby Barnhill, and Penelope Wilton.

I have never watched the original film or read the book, and while the book is a classic, I struggled with this version of the film. It is just lackluster storytelling. The film is supposed to be an adventure, but it lacks the thrill. However, the giant world is visually stunning, and Barnhill is brilliant in her role as the orphaned girl. Surprisingly, the script has a number of plot holes that make the film tedious and boring. I think they tried to make it too modern and it lost its spirit and heartwarming quality. This film is not worth the watch.
