My Week With Marilyn (2011)

Rated R

Based on Colin Clark’s memoir of his time as Laurence Olivier’s assistant during the filming of The Prince and the Showgirl. Starring Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Julia Ormond, Kenneth Branagh, Toby Jones, Dougray Scott, Dominic Cooper, Judi Dench, Emma Watson

Michelle Williams is the highlight to this film. I think she topped the performance of Marilyn. Williams also humanized Marilyn. I felt as if I understood her and the choices she made. I also understand that Marilyn was an act and because of that she had a hard time figuring out if people loved Marilyn or Norma Jean. It was a beautiful tribute to an actress with demons. It made me want to run away with the circus.
