John Carter (2012) Rated PG-13

John CarterA Civil War vet gets transported to Mars. Based on the book, A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Starring Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, Mark Strong, Dominic West, Bryan Cranston

Even bad marketing does not save a bad film. Although, it’s not the worst film I’ve seen it’s not Oscar worthy. The acting is not very good but it was entertaining. It has a very cheesy style to the film and the acting for the most part follows through with it.  My question throughout the film was, “How do people on Mars know what a white ape looks like?” Of course they answered that question by the end but it was annoying me for an hour and half. That still didn’t help the ape thing even though it is a minute detail it show the bad writing of the film. I would watch this if you are a fan of Burroughs and you might just enjoy it.
