A Year in Mooring (2011) Rated PG-13

hideawayA businessman trying to restart his life buys a dilapidated sailboat. Starring Josh Lucas, Ayelet Zurer, James Cromwell.

This is an interesting film, although mechanically, it leaves much to be desired.  It has an intriguing story and great acting, but the writing and overall vision for the film feels incomplete.  The scenes seem to be thrown together, and they are bogged down with a failed attempt to create a cinematographic masterpiece instead of focusing on the character development.  They just couldn’t find the depth needed to tell this story of overcoming tragedy.  Even with all of its shortcomings, I still found myself enjoying the film.  It is worth a watch.
