PBS has done it again. This is a great period piece with great acting. The characters grow with each episode in strength and depth of character. There is an authenticity to this film that makes it captivating. I do think they emphasize the African American push for freedom more than it may have actually been, and at times, I questioned the character of Dr. Foster, but overall, it is a highly commendable effort by PBS. I am hopeful for a second season. It is well worth a watch.
