Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) Rated PG-13

The adventures of Newt Scamander in New York’s community of witches and wizards. Based on the novel by  J. K. Rowling. Starring Eddie Redmayne, Sam Redford, Scott Goldman, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Johnny Depp.

I’ve never been a big Harry Potter fan, so I was a little wary of this film, but I found it to be pleasantly surprising. Unlike the Harry Potter films, this one is a fun and fantastical adventure with Newt Scamander.  While on layover in New York to pick up a mate for one of his fantastic beasts, some of his other beasts get loose, and he has to track them down.  Much more exciting than trying to find out the parentage of Harry Potter, this romp through a world of wizards and witches is worth a watch.
