VICE Guide to Film (Viceland) Rated NR

An insider’s look into today’s directors. Actors and filmmakers alike talk about their films and what makes them great. Starring James Franco, Harmony Korine, Errol Morris, Zak Penn.

This show focuses mainly on the more controversial film directors of our time. There is only one person who talked about a mainstream director like Steven Spielberg or James Cameron. I would have liked to hear and see more regarding more commercial filmmakers. It is interesting to hear the stories and go behind the scenes to see what makes films great, but there is a sense of hero worship in the interviews with the people involved with the films. They made the directors out to be more than they really are, in my opinion. I still think the show is worth a watch, though, because it does give insight into the inner workings of film direction.
