Five years after Mamma Mia! Sophia plans to reopen Hotel Bella Donna as she learns more about her mother’s past. Starring Amanda Seyfried, Andy Garcia, and Celia Imrie.

I was really hoping that this film will hold up to the first or at least be a great continuing story. This one falls short against the first film. Donna has passed away, how or why we don’t know. It was never explained except that Sophia really wants to reopen her mother’s hotel in her memory. The story jumps from Donna’s past and how she met all three men and slept with all three men to not knowing who the father is, and then it jumps to Sophia planning the reopening. There are new characters, but we don’t know how Sophia met them or their history. Then you have the songs, which helped tell the story and move the story along in the first film. in this film, the songs seem out of place and don’t do much for the story. I was sorely disappointed in the movie. This is one that isn’t worth a watch even for the soundtrack.
