20 Feet From Stardom (2013) Rated PG-13

A documentary that follows the lives of backup singers to the iconic songs of our time. Starring Lou Adler, Stephanie ‘Stevvi’ Alexander, and Patti Austin.

This is a wonderful documentary on the singers behind the headlining performers. The documentary follows singers from the 60s until today and how their vocals are what we have come to love. Their vocals sometimes are better than the main singer, and it shows. Although, most backup singers don’t seem to be able to make a solo career. The film isn’t as informative as it could be, but it does bring to light what these singers did for the music industry. The movie is amazingly entertaining but doesn’t give us the information about what makes a backup singer a backup singer. This film is worth a watch.
