The Johnny Cash Christmas Special (1977) Rated NR

A Christmas special filmed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville featuring Johnny Cash. Starring Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, and Roy Clark.

This special was filmed at the Grand Ole Opry and features many performers from the Sun Records Company. Cash recounts Christmases past, including those spent in the military. The show also includes a song by Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash in memory of Elvis Presley, who passed away earlier in the year. What’s regretful about the special is the small number of Christmas songs. We hear the hits from the special guests, but there are very few Christmas songs. Although it is wonderful to see these artists perform, it is rather sad that there isn’t more Christmas music included. Even so, I would still say this is worth a watch.
