Indian Summers (PBS) Rated TV-14

A drama set in 1932 in the final years of British colonial India. Starring Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Jemima West, and Julie Walters.

This show is beautifully shot and told. We see the racism and colonial rule of a nation while the characters grow and struggle with their inner torments. The actors are all typecast; we have seen all these characters before and know what they would choose as they battle not only their demons but also the law under which they live. There are characters you love and hate, and the casting is better with some rather than others. Overall, you really get involved in these characters’ lives. I think the downfall of the show is the time jump between seasons. You don’t get to see the characters manage the fallout of the first season finale. That was too disappointing; however, the show is worth a watch.
