A Town Without Christmas (2001) Rated TV-G

A child’s letter to Santa makes national news when he claims he no longer wants to be alive, thinking he’s a burden to his divorcing parents. Starring Patricia Heaton, Rick Roberts, and Ernie Hudson.

This film has the typical holiday fare: all your dreams come true by the end of the film. Everyone gets a happily ever after – the cynical reporter, the lonely novelist, and the girl who brings her parents back together. The film doesn’t win any brownie points by also being political. While I know they were trying to make the reporter hardcore, there’s no need for that. There is a little reminiscence of A Christmas Carol in the story, but I would rather watch any other version that is truly Dickens. The film is poorly written with a bad script, and it’s not worth the watch.
