The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2016) Rated PG-13

A widowed architect strikes an unlikely friendship with a teenage runaway. Starring Jason Sudeikis, Maisie Williams, and Jessica Biel.

This film is a good story about a man who is grieving the loss of his wife and befriends the runaway that lives in their neighborhood. It’s a story that requires you to suspend your disbelief. If you do that, it’s a film about helping and caring for those around you even if they are on rock bottom. Sudeikis, who tends to be the funny man, actually does a good job at being normal. Williams, as the precocious runaway, doesn’t always hit the right mark, but is still interesting. The film is carried by these two characters, and while the story doesn’t make much sense, it does give us a weight of what life is about. Thus, the film is worth the watch.
