Monte Walsh (2003) Rated TV-14

Monte has been a cowboy all his life and now big business is trying to take over the rancher’s land. Based on the book by  Jack Schaefer. Starring Tom Selleck, Isabella Rossellini, and Keith Carradine.

This film is a quintessential western. It has everything that a western should have: beautiful scenery, great shootouts, and cowboys. The pacing is a little on the slow side. However, the actors are wonderful as their characters, but than again, this isn’t the first western they’ve done. The film is a character study on the changes of time, looking at those who struggle with it and those who can’t change.  As with most westerns the cinematography is beautiful and breathtaking. With the great casting and the beautiful scenery this film is worth the watch.
