A killer uses the sound of human pain for pleasure. Starring Jasmin Savoy Brown, Lili Simmons, and James Jagger.
The film begins with an intriguing premise and has enough potential to suggest it could become a compelling thriller, but the writing and overall execution do not live up to that promise. Several plot holes make the story difficult to fully accept, especially the inconsistency surrounding Alexis’s hearing, which never feels convincingly explained or logically integrated into the narrative. The performances are some of the film’s stronger elements, and the actors manage to bring a touch of credibility to an otherwise outlandish storyline. Alexis’s gradual descent into instability gives the film a few effective moments; however, it’s not enough to overcome the script’s weaknesses. In the end, the film’s interesting concept and solid acting are undermined by uneven storytelling, making it hard to recommend it as a worthwhile watch.
