A family is invited to a country house with friends where they discover the homeowner’s dark side. Starring James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis, and Scoot McNairy.

This premise has been done before, and it’s not surprising where they go with this story. While the acting and the writing are brilliant and entertaining to watch, the film just doesn’t feel like anything new. Then you have the victim’s stupidity and their “logic” to keep coming back for more. The characters lack substance at times, except for McAvoy. McAvoy easily goes from charming to sinister in seconds. He’s the red flag that nobody listens to, and the daughter is too dense to understand what is going. This film has moments of brilliance but not enough to make it worth the watch.
