The Far Country is another great western starring James Stewart. The writing was excellent in keeping Stewart as an anti-hero for as long as possible. As much as the film was excellent, I kept wondering who Stewart was going to pick between the two girls vying for his attention. This is the fourth film with the partnership between Anthony Mann and James Stewart and I will say that this wasn’t my favorite. If you want to see a great western with the collaboration of Mann/Stewart, I would watch A Bend of the River or The Naked Spur. Even though, this wasn’t my favorite it does have the talent of Mann, Stewart and cinematography of the other four films they made together.
