Lizzie Borden Took an Ax (2014) Rated TV-14

lizzie borden took an axBased on the true story of Lizzie Borden, who was acquitted in the murder of her father and step mother. Starring Christina Ricci, Clea Duvall, Gregg Henry, Billy Campbell

This film was a bomb and not the good kind. First I wondered if the filmmakers actually did research of Lizzie Borden or if they just put forth their interpretation of the events as they saw them. Lizzie seems to be psychotic, even through we don’t know if she did it or not. The evidence was from the get go, contaminated. They also didn’t show hardly any questioning of the witnesses, it’s as if, in the filmmakers eyes that Lizzie was already the culprit. It wasn’t just the lack of showing the lack of evidence against Lizzie that made this film bad but also the soundtrack to the film. They used some heavy metal/rock music which doesn’t fit the time period or even the emotion that you should be feeling in the scenes. It jars you awake and I wasn’t even sleeping. The only good was Christina Ricci’s performance and it would have been made better had there been a good story with a good soundtrack. You could have done so much better. This is a pass for me.
