Life of a King (2013) Rated PG-13

Life of a King

An Ex-Con creates a chess club for inner city kids. Based on a true story. Starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Dennis Haysbert, George Dick

Wow, what a very worthy film. I enjoyed this film very much. I was quite surprised, I expected the usual teacher coming to the kids rescue but alas this isn’t just that, it’s more. It shows a man trying to make amends for the wrong he has done and changing his future from the mistakes of his past. It’s a man who doesn’t play the race card and understands when unjust things happen that it isn’t always the race card, even if it is. He is a smart man. I think Cuba Gooding, Jr. deserves another Oscar for this film. The acting is superb and the writing is perfect. I’m surprised and not surprised at the same time that I’ve not heard much about this film. That’s a waste, it should be seen and recognized.
