Late Bloomer (2016) Rated TV-PG

Late BloomerA woman falls for a guy who bullied her in high school. Starring Brooke Newton, Italia Ricci, Nathan Parsons.

This is a clean, family-friendly film.  Apart from some confusion at the beginning (I couldn’t tell if they were showing flashbacks or two separate stories; it is the latter), I really enjoyed this movie.  There are two, paralleling stories, both equally well done.  They cover the subject of bullying in school from both the perspective of the bully and the victim.

The film doesn’t attempt to give answers to the problem of bullying; rather it communicates that bullying is not the way to treat others and that there are two sides to every story. Of course, in the end, all is well and everyone is coupled up.  This movie was much better than many of the recent Hallmark films I’ve seen (this is not a Hallmark film); it is worth a watch.
