The Bounty (1984) Rated PG

the-bountyThe story of Lieutenant Bligh, whose cruelty leads to mutiny on his ship. Based on the book, Captain Bligh and Mr. Christian by Richard Hough. Starring Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Olivier, Daniel Day-Lewis, Liam Neeson.

I thought this film was interesting take on Mutiny on the Bounty. It isn’t quite accurate, but it does keep you intrigued. They were able to present the story in such a way that my sympathies were divided between Bligh and Christian (the first mate and leader of the mutiny).  With a top-billed cast, you would expect nothing less than the excellent performances they all gave.  I have not seen any other versions of Mutiny on the Bounty, but I will say that this one is worth a watch.
