Alice returns to the magical world of Wonderland and travels back in time to help the Mad Hatter. Based on the book, Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. Starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, Rhys Ifans.
To begin, this is not, in any way, based on the work of Lewis Carroll. The screenwriters made up this story about Alice as a grown woman, and it made little sense. Sure, she is strong, brave, and independent- I can see that being true. However, I doubt there were many female ship captains in 1871, and they certainly didn’t become captain without prior experience on board a ship. This film bears no resemblance to Carroll’s magical work or delightful characters. It is a pass.
