Charlie’s Angels (2000) Rated PG-13

charlies-angelsThree women with a mysterious boss work as detectives to find a stolen voice ID software. Starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, Bill Murray, Luke Wilson.

Vaguely reminiscent of the 70s show, Charlie’s Angels, this film is campy and fun with trademark beautiful women who aren’t afraid of danger. I loved the chemistry between Diaz, Barrymore, and Liu, and Bill Murray was on his game, as always. It was fun to watch them all on the screen. Unfortunately, the story didn’t really get going until after they got their assignment from Charlie. The first part of the movie, where they explain who they are and what they do was pretty campy. I know, the original Charlie’s Angels was also a bit nonsensical, but the movie took it too far.  Also, the special effects were silly, underdeveloped even for their time. If you’re a fan of the show Charlie’s Angels, this film is worth a watch; if not, I don’t think you’ll be missing anything to skip it.
