Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2016) Rated PG-13

miss-peregrines-home-for-peculiar-childrenJacob discovers a mystery that crosses time when he finds Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Based on the book by Ransom Riggs. Starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Rupert Everett, Allison Janney, Chris O’Dowd.

This is a lackluster film. The special effects are amazing, but the story has continuity issues, making it forgettable. Inconsistencies like what happened to Jacob’s dad and how did Jacob get back home as an underage traveler plague this film. The film doesn’t follow the book very well, which is always a disappointment, especially when they take the essence of the book and change it. There are just too many plot holes and unexplained scenarios to allow this film to flow smoothly. This film is a pass.
