A vagabond dog befriends Jesus during the Holy Week. Starring Lucas Grabeel, Roma Downey, Kathleen Barr.
This film follows Jesus through Holy Week with a group of animals that befriend Jesus and want to save him from his death. Jesus’ story doesn’t change, but it is a different perspective of forgiveness through the eyes of a dog. Technically, the only animal present in Scripture during this time was a donkey, and I can’t remember Jesus ever preaching to animals. I do believe Jesus would have had compassion for animals, but I struggled with them being the focus of a film based on the life of Jesus. Still, the main theme of forgiveness, however drawn out it is, makes this film worth a watch.
