A boy visiting his grandmother discovers he can travel between two centuries and unlocks family history mysteries. Based on the book, The Chimneys of Green Knowe by Lucy M. Boston. Starring Alex Etel, Timothy Spall, Maggie Smith, Dominic West.
I wanted to watch this film mainly because I wanted to see what Julian Fellowes made before Downton Abbey. The film is brilliantly told with great cinematography. It’s well written and it showcases Fellowes’ great storytelling. With that, I have to say the story is rather predictable. There were aspects of the film that weren’t as smooth or consistent as they could have been. Even with those blunders, though, the film is worth a watch.
