Arthur Newman (2012) Rated R

A man fakes his own death to start a new life with a woman who is also trying to forget her past. Starring Colin Firth, Emily Blunt, and Lucas Hedges.

At first glance, this film looks good; you have Firth and Blunt, who are both fine actors and enjoyable to watch. The story, on the other hand, did either no favors. The chemistry was the biggest problem for me; add to it the age difference. I was really hoping that they would stick to a platonic relationship, but of course, the film can’t have that. The film isn’t a comedy; however, the rather dark undertone is marked with lighter moments. The pacing is rather slow, but it works for this film. Even with the small positives, the film still isn’t worth a watch.
