Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (CBS) Rated NR

A series based on the film, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954). Starring Richard Dean Anderson, Roger Wilson, and Peter Horton.

I was so looking forward to watching this series because I love the 1954 film. However, the only thing this show has in common with the film is that there are seven brothers. The show is an updated version of the film taking place in the 1980s, and the only married brother is the oldest. We have some scenes that are from the film, but most of the storylines are new. The brothers are all ranchers, and every episode either has a mystery that the brothers must solve or the youngest ones getting into trouble. The chemistry between the actors leaves something to be desired – not to mention the acting. Then you have the singing – the songs fit the story, but none of the actors have a voice like Jane Powell or Howard Keel. It’s quite obvious the reasons this show didn’t last more than a year. It’s not worth a watch.
